Software Consultant – Java + wealth management / life & pensions

Position:  Software Consultant – Java + Wealth Management (Life & Pensions, Unit Trusts, ISA’s) or Asset Management solutions/systems

Suitable for:  Java Consultant or Senior Java Developer or Implementation Consultant with experience of wealth management or asset management systems

Location:  London + travel to client sites (approx. 8-10 days per month)

Salary:  to £70k + bens (see below)

The Software Consultant / Java Consultant / Senior Java Developer / Implementation Consultant will be responsible for providing technical advice and guidance to wealth management and Life & Pensions clients and the internal team. The Software Consultant / Java Consultant / Implementation Consultant will require to have strong knowledge of the platform, interfaces, architecture and implementation process. They will be involved in the support and resolution of complex technical requirements or issues.  The role has client-facing aspects, including visits to client offices.

Experience:

  • Solid experience in enterprise scale Java (design and development). Sonata is a large complex java application with both web and rich desktop client interfaces.
  • Financial services experience – ideally in Wealth Management (Pensions, Unit Trusts, ISAs) or Asset
  • Systems integration technologies (including web services and messaging)
  • Good SQL skills
  • Experience of producing and working with UML based design docs
  • Client facing skills

Desirable:

  • JEE, J2EE, JSF/JSP
  • Oracle
  • SAML
  • Experience of non-functional testing e.g. performance testing

Role:

The Software Consultant / Java Consultant / Implementation Consultant will be responsible for a varied range of tasks covering the full software development lifecycle as follows:

  • Advising the client on integration options for the Java software product within their corporate IT infrastructure
  • Defining technicalsolutions/approaches to support the integration – this includes defining and capturing requirements, proposing and agreeing solutions and producing design documents
  • Functional and non-functional testing (including performance testing)
  • Assisting the client with delivery/rollout of software releases
  • Liaising with the technicaland development teams on new and existing changes – ensuring the development team delivers the proposed solution, to quality, within the overall plan
  • Assisting in trouble shooting and debugging any potential issues with the application
