Junior Technical Support Engineer

Position:  Junior Technical Support Engineer – learn web hosting

Suitable for:  1st Line Support or IT Support Analyst or Junior Hosting Engineer / Technician

Location:  Wetherby, West Yorkshire

Salary:  £20k – £24k + bonus + bens

The Junior Technical Support Engineer will be part of the technical client services team responsible for delivering pro-active technical account and infrastructure support to the client services team and providing technical support to the developers and service desk.

We are looking for a Junior Technical Support Engineer who is passionate, organised and ambitious with energy and enthusiasm as well as determination to succeed.  This role has huge opportunity with the potential for career development in a rapidly growing business with ambitious plans for the future.


  • Approx 2 years’ commercial experience in a Junior Technical Support Engineer or 1st line Support or IT Support Analyst type role or Junior Hosting Engineer / Hosting Technician
  • General infrastructure support including basic networking and server support and management
  • DNS management
  • Database management of development and test SQL databases
  • Good balance of customer service and commercial awareness
  • UK driving licence

Personal attributes:

  • Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic environment with minimal supervision
  • High levels of initiative, strong organisational skills and a natural ability to get things done

Desirable (not essential):

  • Technical understanding of and interest in web hosting
  • Management of hosting infrastructure inc ‘website down’, resource monitoring, alert response
  • Deployment of live sites and pre-planning of site ‘go-lives’
  • Experience of web development / CMS / Content Management Systems
  • SSL certificate management
  • Previous experience of working with a digital agency or external clients

The role:

  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with internal team as well as key clients, having regular project review meetings, resolving issues, keeping up-to-speed with requirements
  • Delivery of projects alongside client services and operations
  • Day to day management of hosting infrastructure
  • Liaising with clients and client services both for deployments and client-owned network/server maintenance
